SINK #11: Cutthroat Surveys Coming This Week! [Preview]
– Mon, Mar 27, 2023 at 03:31:09 PM
Hey, SINK: Cutthroat backers, attention please!
We're happy to report that we're just about ready to print up copies of the new issue! We're doing a final pass on the print files and backmatter, but we should be good to go this week.
That means that we'll also be ready to ship out SHIPPING SURVEYS this week through Backerkit. Our survey is designed to collect your shipping information and for you to confirm any add-ons you may have pledged for during the SINK campaign.
If you pledge for one of the T-shirts during the campaign, we'll also use the survey to collect your SIZE and STYLE preference.
And for INTERNATIONAL BACKERS, who were not charged anything for shipping during the Kickstarter campaign, the survey will also be where you'll be able to pay for shipping using our TOTAL ORDER WEIGHT shipping. (Remember, US shipping was and still is free.)
Any Kickstarter add-ons or special perks will be reflected in your order on Backerkit. And even if you didn't select any add-ons during the Kickstarter campaign, you'll be able to upgrade your pledge to a higher level or choose some ADD-ON EXTRAs when you fill out your survey as well!
Most backers will receive the SINK: Cutthroat Kickstarter Survey, powered by Backerkit, on the morning of Wednesday, 3/29. However, about 5% of backers will receive their survey sooner, within the next few hours or so, as we conduct our "SMOKE TEST" to make sure the survey is working as expected before we send out to everyone. It’s important to respond to your survey as quickly as you can since we need this information to fulfill your rewards.
You don’t need to create a BackerKit account to fill out your survey. When you receive the email with the survey, click the survey link to respond. Answer the questions about your reward preferences, provide shipping information, and purchase add-on items if you like. You don’t have access to this survey link yet, but it will be available soon via email!
Unfortunately, we were sad to see that 7 backers' pledges were dropped as Kickstarter was unable to resolve their credit card charge issues...
However, those backers WILL be able to fix this through the Backerkit Survey.
Also, if you made a mistake in your pledge and selected the wrong reward, you will be able to correct it when the survey comes, as well as provide us with additional info so we can fulfill your pledge!
SURVEY TUTORIAL & WALKTHROUGH
Here's a Tutorial Walkthrough Showing How Easy (and fun!) it Is to Complete Your Survey So We Can Ship Your Rewards!
WANT TO BE INCLUDED IN THE BACKERS' SECTION OF THE PDF? YOU MUST FILL OUT YOUR SURVEY BY 4/1/2023!
We'll be putting a page thanking backers by name in the PDF... however, because the digital file is just about ready to go, we need your surveys in ASAP to create that page. SO please, don't delay in completing that survey!
More surprises await when your Survey Arrives!
So keep an eye out for it soon!

SINK #11 Kickstarter Finishes Strong! Here's What to Do Next...
– Mon, Mar 13, 2023 at 09:42:18 AM
Hello there, SINK backers! Hope you had a great weekend. We're proud to report that we had a strong final day for the SINK campaign, and blew past our $22K stretch goal, unlocking SINK bookmarks for all physical backers!
We had 327 RETURNING backers on this launch (our most returning backers ever!), and it's such a blessing to be able to count on our longtime fans to come back for more from us.
Likewise, with this campaign, we also brought in exactly 100 NEW BACKERS, who were willing to take a step into the world of SINK for the first time. We're happy to welcome you all into the ComixTribe fold and think you'll love what you find here!
NEXT STEPS FOR SINK #11...
This week, we'll complete the backmatter and finalize print files for the new issue, before sending it over to our printer next week.
We're currently in the 2 week funding freeze period, where Kickstarter is processing pledges on our behalf.
95.7% of pledges have already been successfully processed via Kickstarter. That leaves 18 backers whose pledges have errored. This is a simple fix, and usually means your credit card info with Kickstarter is not up to date.
To update your payment information, simply log into Kickstarter and update your account. (Kickstarter will also send you an email to fix this.)
NOTE: If you're having trouble getting this fixed, it's usually best to try to do it from the desktop vs the phone app, which can be a little buggy. Please resolve those pledges ASAP, so we can get you your rewards without delay.
Next Step: Surveys
If you're new to Kickstarter, you may be wondering how we'll know where to send your rewards, or if you ordered a T-Shirt how we'll get the details on your order. Not to worry...
After Kickstarter finishes doing its thing and collects pledges from all backers, we'll send you a short SHIPPING SURVEY powered by BACKERKIT to fill out which will let you tell us where to send your physical and digital rewards.
Also, while shipping for US backers was included on Kickstarter, we will be using Backerkit to tally up all of our international orders total shipping weights so we can charge you only what it will actually cost us to ship your package to you. We'll be collecting those shipping fees through Backerkit, via Paypal or CC.
Prompt survey fulfillment = faster fulfillment, so we do hope you'll get yours in ASAP after we send it.
Once we get the surveys out, we'll follow up with a time-table on expected rewards delivery.
Add-Ons & Extras
You may have noticed that we topped unlocked another cover on the final day of this launch, which was chosen by the backers. Here's the finished cover, with art by Matt Zolman and colors by Ryan Kroboth:
As there wasn't much time to take orders initially, we'll be making those covers... and some additional ComixTribe merchandise available as EXTRAS you can add on to your pledge when you fill out the survey. More details to come!
Stay In Touch With the 'Tribe in a Few Easy Steps
We know the world is noisier than ever and now largely controlled by AI and algorithms deciding what we get to see when. We're fighting that like you are. The good news is, there are a few actions you can take to make sure you don't miss a thing from ComixTribe and the SINK crew as we work toward fulfilling your rewards!
That's all for now! The next time you'll hear from us will be with a preview of the SINK #11 survey!

– Fri, Mar 10, 2023 at 09:17:37 AM
Here we go! It's the final day of the SINK #11: Cutthroat Kickstarter campaign and we couldn't be more thrilled about how things are going. SINK has returned in a big way here in 2023, and we have all of you to thank for it... and honestly, this is only the beginning!
With SINK #11 complete, artist Alex Cormack has already begun art working on the next issue, and we plan on getting you as much SINK in 2023 as you can handle, so get those shovels ready.
That said, success of this launch helps power what we can do, and we want to bring as many new readers to the party as possible... so a big final funding push over the next few hours is essential. To that end...
Thank you for voting in our MATT ZOLMAN SINK COVER POLL! As you can see from the results above, nearly 3 out of 4 Backers preferred Cover A, for reasons including:
We can't disagree with our discerning fans... but for those of you who preferred Cover B, not to worry, a colored version of that piece of art will be included in the Deluxe Edition of SINK #11 that you'll receive!
Final Day Variant Cover Added! SINK #11E: Backer Choice Matt Zolman Cover Available Now as Add-On!
We have some stretch goals left to unlock and really want to blow this thing up, so we've just added to the add-on menu a NEW COVER, the very cover selected by backers!
We told you that we'd be pulling a bonus winner from everyone who voted in our Cover Poll, and we selected backer Fred Chaney at random! Congrats Fred!
For his prize, Fred will be getting a physical copy of the very cover he chose added to his pledge for free!
And for everyone else, you can now ADD-ON this Kickstarter Exclusive Limited Edition Backers Choice Cover by Matt Zolman to your pledge for just +$20!
The final version of this cover will be in full color, and we're getting it colored now. We'll only be taking orders for this cover over the next dozen hours or so and during the Backerkit Survey collection, so you can be sure this one is going to be EXTREMELY RARE and HARD TO FIND in the future!
Can You Give Us a Final Promo Push!
The SINK fanbase has grown over the years, not because there is a huge market for Glasgow-based crime horror comics... but rather because the book is so damn good and our fans can't stop talking about it. Word of mouth is HUGE!
If you could do us a solid and help us finish strong by clicking either or both of the SOCIAL SHARE buttons on the top of our Kickstarter page, and letting your followers know they're missing out on one of the best books in comics if they don't jump in today!
We do this for you... and couldn't do it with out you. So thank you for your incredible support!

– Wed, Mar 08, 2023 at 11:35:37 AM
Hey, SINK Backers, the clock has switched from days to hours over here, so we're gearing up to land this plane. We want to thank everyone who dropped by the awesome LIVE stream last night, and left some amazing comments and participated in the conversation with SINK creators John Lees and Alex Cormack and publisher Tyler James.
For example, we asked some of the fans watching to describe what readers NEW to SINK have in store with this series:
Love it! We might need to use some of these as pull quotes on future issues!
As promised, we choose some random draw winners of some awesome signed comics and rare variants during the stream. Here's a run-down of what was won and by whom:
Oxy TLN #1 signed by Lees, Cormack & James - Christopher Pyne
SINK #6: Nycc Ex signed by Lees & Cormack - Killacam7010
CP Wilson SINK #1 Plush Variant - Mage Gunner
Quilte #1 Signed by John Lees & Tyler James - ThomasJD18
SINK #6: Ryan Kincaid New Mutants #87 Homage Variant Signed by Lees, Cormack & Kincaid - James Ferguson
SINK #6 Ryan Kincaid New Mutants #87 Homage VIRGIN Variant Signed by Lees, Cormack & Kincaid - Brad
We also decided to reward backers who tuned in live AND upped their pledge during the live broadcast to help us reach those stretch goals with an extra mystery bonus item from the ComixTribe vault... and it was awesome to see a bunch of them did. If you're one of them, we've got you down!
TWO EPIC MATT ZOLMAN SINK COVERS... HELP US CHOOSE!
Longtime ComixTribe fans may remember artist Matt Zolman, co-creator of EPIC with Tyler James.
After taking a hiatus from drawing comics for awhile, Matt has actually been getting back into it in a big way lately... and he jumped at the chance to do a SINK cover for us. And because Matt is an over-achiever, he sent us TWO cover concepts to choose from.
We think these are both cool as hell... so we figured we'd let the backers decide which of these two is their preference.
COVER A
COVER B
Two awesome covers, right?
ANOTHER CHANCE TO WIN SOMETHING EXTRA... LET US KNOW WHICH ZOLMAN COVER YOU PREFER!
Just let us know in the chat if you prefer COVER A or COVER B. Once again, we'll raffle off a cool bonus, and everyone who submits a vote will be eligible to take it home!
So get those COMMENT VOTES in!
PLUS: A FREE COPY OF EPIC #0 FOR YOUR EYEBALLS!
We're so excited that Matt back to cranking on comics, that we wanted to get more of his work in your hands. So, as a freebie, we're giving everyone a free DOWNLOAD OF EPIC #0, the oversized pilot issue of of a superteen action comedy billed as "Invincible" meets "Archie."
And for another little teaser... for years we've had fans ask whether there was any chance that EPIC could return, after its 4 issue run abruptly ended several years back. The answer:
STAY TUNED! : )

P.S. Any RPGers or Dice heads out there?
Our buddy Anthony Christou of Luminous Ages fame, one of the top Australian fantasy illustration and comics crowdfunders out there, is back with a new line of Dice and Tapestries.
Anthony specializes in making items for Tabletop RPGs and this is his 4th successful dice set launch on Kickstarter.
The stream will begin at the top of the hour LIVE on Tuesday, March 7 from 5-6 PM EDT with writer John Lees, artist Alex Cormack and Publisher Tyler James!
And during the broadcast, we'll be answering backer questions and giving out some cool BONUS PRIZES to backers.
